Stanley Black & Decker Joins How2Recycle

Charlottesville, VA, September 9, 2019 – Stanley Black & Decker has recently joined the How2Recycle® label program. Stanley Black & Decker brands such as Stanley, DeWalt, and Craftsman industrial tools will soon feature the How2Recycle label on product packaging in an effort to reduce recycling confusion. This initiative will benefit its consumers with clear recycling instructions, enabling them to recycle more and more accurately.

How2Recycle is looking forward to working with the Stanley Black & Decker team to help the organization reach its sustainability goals.

“People need tools to create and maintain the world, and those tools come in packaging. It’s critical that those builders and maintainers are just as empowered to know what to do with that packaging when they’re done with it as they are when they use those tools to make and fix things,” says Kelly Cramer, lead of How2Recycle at Sustainable Packaging Coalition. “We enthusiastically welcome Stanley Black & Decker as the first tool company to the How2Recycle program.”

How2Recycle is a labeling system that aims to take the guesswork out of recycling. The label’s clear design and transparent claims allow consumers to feel confident in their recycling decisions. For the brands who are members, customizable assessments and insight on packaging design for recyclability are some of the many benefits to involvement in the How2Recycle program.

“Stanley Black & Decker is excited to begin working with How2Recycle” says Deb Geyer, Corporate Responsibility Officer.  “Their expertise in recycling infrastructure and packaging design will be invaluable on our journey towards 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging by 2025.”
